The complete 24 Preludes and Fugues, released in reverse order
Prelude and Fugue 18 in G-sharp minor BWV 863
Imagine a small chamber ensemble with a flute solo of great delicacy. The calm, dance-like undulations are ever in the background.
The ensemble continues in the fugue, commencing with a bass viol. The introspective sorrow of the prelude is transformed into a bolder statement of determination and resolve, with much accumulation of emotional tension seen in the insistent repeated notes and disjunct intervals.

    When I listen to this sonata, and barely all people struggling with the repeated notes, I wonder how can Martha Argerich play it at that crazy speed 😳 I don’t like particularly her version as for me is so so fast to enjoy it and generally Miss Argerich don’t care so much about emotional content in baroque, at least to my ears. I prefer no pedal on the baroque music, just a matter of taste

    • @BachPianist
      @BachPianist 4 месяца назад

      She doesn’t actually play all the notes, but it doesn’t seem to matter because the effect is so brilliant. I use pedal minimally in baroque music (as you can see in my other videos) It can add colour but it must never obscure clarity.

Even though i am not a pianist/keyboardist i watched the entire video at a single stretch due to the sheer love of Bach and this piece. I can understand the amount of homework you might have done to create such videos which covers all aspects with the minutest detail.
